The group popularly known to Udaaya as Lohankarmi is Shilakar. Shila means stone and this group specializes in making stone idols, small stupas and engraving for stone inscription on stone slab. According to tradition, a Shilakar is called to lay the foundation stone called Eelohan when building a house.
The ancient settlements of the Shilakars are behind the Mahadeo temple in Makhan, Kusumbiyalachhi and Dwokadha. Although few in numbers, Shilkars have Digu Dyo in a number of places namely Kanga, Dhumbakhyo, Paknajol, Baghbhairav and Kanga Pyagathan. The majority of the Shilakars have their Digudyo at Kanga Dhumbakhyo.
